Sykia beach, Samos Island |
The tiny, only 100 meters long, pebbly and secluded beach of Sykia (meaning “fig tree” in Greek) is situated at a distance of some 30 kilometers southwestern to the town of Samos and 19 kilometers western to Pythagorio; the sea is very clean and not very deep and the beach, found at the southern coast of the island, is rather well protected from the northern winds. There are not accommodation facilities at the beach, nor in the area around; for lodging you should go to the neighboring more tourist areas. Since the beach has no restaurants or taverns, you should take care to bring along the necessary provisions (water at least) if you decide spend some time at this beach. |

The beach is not organized at all and if you come here is for enjoying a relaxing swimming in a nice sea, far from the big crowds of the well organized beaches. In case of health problems you should address to the local Medical Center and the pharmacy of Pythagorio, some 19 kilometers far away to the East. Access to the beach from Pythagorio is possible by rented or private car and motorbikes. You will follow the road leading from Spatharaioi to Pagondas; you will drive the last 8 kilometers on a dirt road, within a very nice environment. |
