Description
Guesthouse “Lithis Doma” is hidden among fir trees, in an eagle’s nest at an altitude of 1150 meters, with views of Lake Plastira, Meteora, Mt Olympus and Mt Kissavos. It is a country cottage converted, with great care, into a beautiful guesthouse. Indeed, the beauty of the scenery makes you forget everything and daydream….City life seems so far away as the lake comes into view among the fir trees, which, in wintertime, are covered with pure white snow.
Actor Vasilis Mavromatis and his wife Mimoza, the people who created the “Lithis Doma” guesthouse, welcome guests with a smile and offer them a glass of home made “tsipouro” (Greek spirit), which they distil themselves.
The interior is decorated with Mimoza’s creations, made with dry flowers and leaves. However, the outside areas of the guesthouse are also suitable for relaxation or walks. On sunny days the large wooden verandas are ideal for breakfast with unlimited view, for reading, talking or daydreaming.
The hosts of “LITHIS DOMA” are always present and they take care of everything. Wild plum and raspberry marmalades, fresh, local butter and Mimoza’s hand made cookies are served at breakfast, while quite special are the poetry evenings which often take place in the guesthouse, around the fireplace, with the help of Vasilis, who recites poetry or plays his guitar.
Suggested activities: Visit the monastery of Panaghia Pelekiti (dedicated to Virgin Mary). Mountain climbing to the Karamanolis shelter in Neraidha and in the Elatakos Belokomiti location. 4x4 routes to the surrounding villages and the thick fir tree forest that connects Neochori with Neraidha. Canoeing in Lake Plastira. Paragliding in the surrounding summits. Crossing the gorge in Mouzaki (a 4-6 hour route starting from the village of Pezoula). Ski and snow sports in the Karamanolis ski center. Mountain cycling with a great variety of routes.
