The complex was built in 1989 by its owner, an architect. It stands on the site of an old olive press which belonged to the owner's family, in the centre of Horefto, 20 metres from the sea.
The original philosophy underlying the design of the complex was to construct dwellings for 2 to 5 individuals - simple, functional and built to high aesthetic standards - which would give the visitor the sense that he is not staying in a conventional hotel but rather in a more intimate setting, hospitable and designed with its own individual sense of aesthetics.
Aiolos is not a single structure but a group of 7 buildings scattered throughout a 2-acre garden, with 3 small, free-standing houses, isolated from the other dwellings. Although the complex is in the centre of Horefto, it is surrounded by a high stone wall which gives the tenants a sense of absolute privacy.
At the entrance to the complex stands the reception area, where all necessary information is available to guarantee the visitor a pleasant stay and to provide all the services guests may require.
On the same level is the swimming pool (6x12), and the bar, where guests can enjoy coffee or a drink at any time of day.
Moving into the complex and ascending through the various levels, we come to the independent entrances of the various buildings.
There are three types of accommodation:
STUDIO
Sleeps 2 to 3 persons.
Comprises a single area of 25m² with a sleeping area in one corner, a small sitting room and a fully equipped kitchen.
HOUSE
Sleeps 2 to 4 persons. About 45m².
Comprises two areas, one separate bedroom and a sitting room with kitchen area.
DETACHED HOUSE
These are three small houses, 33-45m², sleeping 2 to 4 persons, with two separate areas, fully equipped.
They are located at the highest point of the complex and are designed mainly for those who want to enjoy absolute tranquillity in an unspoiled natural setting.
All the houses have a balcony or veranda with a view of the sea or garden, heating, partial air conditioning, TV and telephone.
The open fireplace adds the final touch to the decor of each house, guaranteeing that cosy fireside feeling for winter guests.
The personal care and good taste which have gone into every last detail of the design - of both interiors and exteriors - endow the complex with its own unique atmosphere, one which is warmly appreciated by visitors who choose to stay here.
