Description

The mill has a unique view over Naxos, Kato Koufonisi, Glaronisi, Keros and on the far horizon one can see the outlines of Amorgos.

The mill was built about 1830 and according to residents' testimonies it was used as a windmill up until 1956. The Ministry of Culture has classified it as a newer monument of the pre-industrial period. From 2006 it functions as a 4 star furnished apartment for rent.

Directions
The mill is located on the south-west side of Koufonisi. During summertime the high-speed fairy reaches 2 - 3 times a week the island from Piraeus in about 5 hours. From Naxos a ferry named "Skopelitis" leaves daily for the island and reaches it in 2,5 hours.

The distance from the harbor is approximately 1 km. The mill is built 30 m from the sea and about 300 m from the borders of the settlement.

Attractions
The island Koufonisia is located south-east of Naxos and west of Amorgos in the center of the Aegean. Literarily, Koufonisia consist of two small islands which are parted by a tight sound: Pano Koufonisi (or just Koufonisi) and Kato Koufonisi.

Koufonisi is probably one of the smallest islands of the Cyclades with its extend of approx. 4 km2 and its 300 permanent residents. However, it has many things to offer such as its slow pace, fresh fish and beautiful beaches.

Chora is the island's only settlement and it is built on the south-western side directly above the harbor. There you will find taverns, a few shops, two super markets and two bars. To the east of the harbor one will find the main road of the island, which extends only for a few kilometers.

The road leads to the beach Finikas. You can continue by foot to the beaches Fanos and Platia Pounta, the famous beach of Koufonisi. Following further the coastline you will reach the so called "Pisines" (= Pools) and reaching at last the northern tip of the island the big sandy beach of Pori stretches out in front of you.
