Built on the north side of Mitsikeli mountain, in central Zagori, surrounded by a thick green flora of beech trees, filbert and oak trees, at an altitute of 1050m. Dikorfo lies 38 Km. away from Ioannina.
Stone built mansion houses, connected with cobblestone streets, dry stone walls and yardgates compose a rare aesthetic mixture around the big village square which blends harmoniously and perfectly in the natural environment.
The village was formed as a corporate settlement just before 1431 with the name of Small Jondila, probably a name of Albanian origins. Its population increased substantially during the 16 th century, mainly from incoming residents from neighboring villages which had been destroyed.
Its residents travelled mainly in the Middle East, Walachia and Egypt while some exercised the profession of empirical doctor. Benefactors donations helped to build big mansions, bridges and other significant buildings.
Dikorfo can serve as an ideal starting point for the exploration of Zagori area. The village has a traditional cafe-restaurant as well.
