Description
The “Archondiko ton Tzoumerkon” (Mansion of Tzoumerka) is Agnantas main guesthouse and one of the best in the area. It is on the main street, next to river Agnantitis, and it overlooks the mountain of Tzoumerka. It is a new, stone-built complex with eleven rooms, which can accommodate 2-4 people each. There is a fireplace in two rooms and one has its own kitchen equipment. There are two dining rooms, one for meals and one for breakfast or drinks, with a fireplace. Breakfast is rich in local products, while some of the best dishes served in the guesthouse are: boiled goat, pork in lemon sauce and rooster with pasta. On sunny days, the veranda with the barbecue and the built-in oven by the river are some of the best spots of the guesthouse.
The major advantage of “Archondiko ton Tzoumerkon” is its very good location, at the center of all the activities and sights of the area.The area: A picturesque small town built amphitheatrically on the slope of Strogula, the summit of Tzoumerka. The village is suitable for escapes to nature throughout the year. The church of Aghia Paraskevi on the main square is worth visiting, as is the old fountain of “Arapis” next to it.
Suggested activities: Visit to the Tsopela settlement. Excursion to the beautiful fir forest of Strogula with the church of Aghia Paraskevi as well as a mountain shelter that affords majestic views. Visit to the monastery of Aghia Ekaterini and the old water mills of the region. Walking in the magnificent valley of Arachthos and the bridge of Plaka. Visit the unique “Anemotrypa” cave near the village of Pramanta. Excursion to Lake Pournari. Mountain biking and short 4x4 trips to the neighbouring villages and the mountain routes of the area. Rafting and kayak in the river Arachthos. Mountaineering excursions in Tzoumerka. Hang-gliding over Arachthos.
