Dasiko Horio KEDROS is a tourist settlement of 20 traditional wooden cottages situated in majestic forest landscape 450 hectares of unspoiled nature at an altitude of 920m in the mountain range of Tzoumerka, near the village of Katarraktis. All cottages are fully equipped and furnished, with central heating, fireplace, spacious rooms, bathroom and kitchen. There are two kinds of cottages, those with two rooms which can comfortably accommodate a couple or a family with 2 children and those with 3 rooms which are ideal for larger families or a company of friends (4-8 persons). In addition, there is a small mountain hostel which can accommodate up to 18 guests in bunk beds.
The area around the cottages has been beautifully shaped with trees and paved paths providing an excellent and safe place for children. There is also a restaurant, a cafe-bar and a mini-market, all in separate wooden buildings inside the settlement.
From KEDROS you can explore and enjoy the beautiful area and picturesque villages of Tzoumerka by car or on foot. For those wishing to do something more active “Trekking Hellas” offers a variety of organized excursions and activities such as trekking, rafting in the river of Arahthos and Kalarritikos, horse riding, abseiling, archery and more.

KEDROS offers 3 types of accommodation: Cottages with 2 rooms, cottages with 3 rooms and a hostel with bunk-beds. The settlement can easily accommodate 60 persons (2 persons in each bedroom) but it can take up to 156 persons if the hostel and bed-sofas in the cottages are used.
Cottages with 2 rooms (8 cottages of 48 sq.m. each) have:
A living room with dining table, fireplace, a double and a single sofa.
A bedroom with one double and one single bed
Fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator and cooker
Bathroom with WC.
Cottages with 3 rooms (11 cottages of 72 sq.m. each) have:
A living room with dining table, fireplace, one double and two single sofas.
A bedroom with one double bed.
A bedroom with two single beds.

Bathroom with WC.
All cottages as well as the hostel have central heating and hot water.
All cottages have a TV and phone (with direct external line).
All sofas can be easily turned into comfortable beds to accommodate larger groups.
The hostel (36sq.m.) has:
A dormitory with bunk-beds (18 persons).
2 WC in the basement.
2 bathrooms in the basement.
Dining
Restaurant:
The restaurant of KEDROS is situated in a beautiful wooden building named “Agriofraoules” which means “Wild Strawberries”. There is a spacious indoor dinning area (up to 120 persons) and during the summer a beautiful outdoor area is also open (up to 250 persons). Social events, such as wedding parties, can also be held here (we can cater for up to 300 guests by prior arrangement).
At our restaurant you can taste a variety of freshly cooked traditional Greek dishes such as home made bread, pies, goat soup, lamb chops, bean-soup, etc. Our cookers, Vania and Kyra Koula, makes sure that all food is prepared with pure, natural, top quality ingredients (meat, eggs, vegetables, etc.) brought to us by local farmers and producers and carefully selected suppliers form the towns of Ioannina and Arta. Extra virgin olive oil is used both in cooking and salads. A rich buffet breakfast is also served daily at the restaurant (included in price).
Please note that, since KEDROS lies in a mountainous and rather remote area, fresh food supplies need planning in advance and we would therefore appreciate your cooperation: If you are a group and during your stay at KEDROS you wish to have lunch or dinner at our restaurant, we would be grateful if you could let us know in good time so we can prepare fresh meals for you.
Moreover, if you wish to have business lunch or dinner, or a group meeting or any other kind of private party (e.g. wedding) please contact us in advance for a list of suggested menus to choose from.
In Katafigi building there is a bar open from morning till late at night.

KEDROS in cooperation with Trekking Hellas of Ipiros recommends a variety of outdoor activities in the area of Tzoumerka. Some of them are:
Rafting
Arahthos canyon (from Politsa to Plaka / available all year). Length:9km, degree of difficulty: II+ (III), price: 50 euro per person.
Arahthos valley/cannyon (from Charokopi to Plaka / December-May). Length:18km, degree of difficulty: IV, price: 65 euro per person.
Lower Arahthos (from Plaka to Skoupa / November-May). Length: 15km, degree of difficulty: 3rd, price: 50 euro per person.
Kalarritikos (from Mihalitsi to Plaka / March-April). Length: 17km, degree of difficulty: III+ (IV), price: 65 euro per person.
Archery:
Archery (all year round) 15 euro p.p.
Abseiling:
Abseiling in Tzoumerka (all year round), medium. 20 euro p.p.

4. Cancellation fees for individuals:
a. Cancellation up to 14 days prior to arrival: full refund of deposit.
b. Cancellation up to 7 days prior to arrival: 50% refund of deposit.
c. Cancellation 3 days prior to arrival: no refund of deposit.
A. Coming from Athens / Arta:
Follow the old Arta-Ioannina national road (not the new Arta deviation).
As soon as you cross Arahthos’ bridge turn right at the 2nd traffic lights to Agnanta/Grammenitsa (At this point reset the mileage meter in your car here).
After 1.7km at the intersection of Hanopoulo turn right.
After 3.2km you’ll find a right turn to Grammenitsa but ignore that and turn left instead.
Keep driving straight and do not turn left at the intersection to Ammotopo / Filipiada.
Drive past Dafnoti, Skoupa, Platanousa (at the 35th km) and Monolithi
At 40.5km you’ll find an intersection going to Ioannina on your left and to Pramanta/Katarraktis on your right. Turn right here and keep driving down the road towards the river.
At the 45th km cross the narrow iron bridge of Arahthos at Plaka and continue towards Agnanta.
At the 48th km turn right at the intersection towards Ramia/Katarraktis.
At the 54th km turn left towards Katarraktis.
Drive past “Milia” settlement (always keeping on asphalt road-do not go into any of the gravel roads) and just before you reach the village of Katarraktis you’ll find an intersection on your right with a sign saying “Dasiko Horio 2.2km” (written: “ΔΑΣΙΚΟ ΧΩΡΙΟ 2,2 χλμ”) which you must follow.
Total distance from Arta 60km. Driving time by car: approximately 1h15min / by bus: 1h45min.
B. Coming from Thessaloniki / Ioannina:
Drive to Ioannina and through/past(?) the city following the national road to Athens.
After 7km you’ll reach an intersection to Bafra on your left where you must turn (At this point reset the mileage meter in your car ).
Drive through the village of Bafra and keep driving parallel to the new Egnatia highway which is still under construction.
At the 4th km turn right towards Katsanohoria/Kalentzi/Prananta.
At the 9th km ignore the right intersection to Serviana and keep driving straight.
At 12.4km ignore the left intersection to Elliniko and turn right instead.
Drive past the villages of Aetorahi (16.2km) and Lazaina (16.9km) and at the intersection of Kostitsi (17.8km) turn right.
Drive past Kalentzi (25.3km) and at the intersection of Monolithio (36.2km) turn left towards Agnanta.
You’ll reach the bridge of Arahthos at Plaka (40.6km) and from there keep driving towards Agnanta.
At 43.7km turn right at the intersection towards Katarraktis/Ramia.
Drive past “Sgara” settlement and at the 50th km turn left at the intersection towards Katarraktis.
Drive past “Milia” settlement (always keeping on asphalt road-do not go into any of the gravel roads) and just before you reach the village of Katarraktis you’ll find an intersection on your right with a sign saying “Dasiko Horio 2.2km” which you must follow.
Total distance from Ioannina 62km. Driving time by car: approximately 1h,15min / by bus: 1h,45min.
Attractions
Folklore Museum of Kypseli:
Displaying an excellent private collection of old traditional objects and costumes, beautifully presented by the owner of the museum, Mr Pantelis Karalis. Distance from KEDROS: 21km.
Anemotrypa cave in Pramanta:
About 300 metres long with impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations. Distance from KEDROS: 19km
Monastery of Kipina:
Perched on the vertical cliffs above the road that leads to the village of Kalarrites. Distance from KEDROS: 33km.
Monastery of Tsouka:
Built in 1190 and recently restored, this monastery is situated on the edge of the gorge of Arahthos near Elliniko village. Distance from KEDROS: 46km.
Syrrako – Kallarites:
Traditional villages of Tzoumerka with a long history and wonderful architecture. Distance from KEDROS: 42 and 39km.
The Bridge of Plaka:
Built in 1866 with a 40-metre long arch and a height of 20 metres it is the largest single-arched stone bridge in Greece. Distance from KEDROS: 15km.
The waterfall of Tzoumerka:
Situated a bit higher than the village of Katarraktis (which means Waterfall in Greek) this double waterfall makes a breathtaking 90-metre fall! There is water during most of the year (except July-October) and the best time to visit is in late Spring. There is a coffee and refreshments kiosk next to the waterfall and it’s a 7km drive from KEDROS.
Red Church of Vourgareli:
Built in 1281 with red mud bricks which give it its name. The frescos date back to the time it was built and the handwritten Gospel of Mathew is also kept here. Distance from KEDROS: 35km.
