Description

Guesthouse Mazaraki is situated close to the picturesque village of Mystras, offering eastern views of the Byzantine castle of Mystras and the city of Sparta, or western views of Mount Taygetos.

 

Mazaraki Guesthouse consists of 3 independent buildings, offering double rooms and suites either with one or two bedrooms. Flat screen TV sets and free Wi-Fi are included.

 

Most offer a furnished living room with fireplace. Free wood for the fireplace may be delivered, in addition to DVD’s, as well as information on local fine cuisine or nightlife.

 

A range of fine wines are available at the guesthouse’s cellar. Mountain bikes and organized visits to the olive mills and fields of the area can also be arranged.

 

It is located at an altitude of 600m., in a wooded area with an abundance of mountain springs and streams. Guesthouse Mazaraki is only 4 km from Mystras, 9 km from Sparta and 1 km from the Byzantine Castle

Our restaurant  "CHROMATA" (Greek for colours) 

Running from December 2008, it’s reviving an old and renowned traditional tavern of 1936, it has become a whole new experience in Mystras dining.

It is located at a mere 250 meters from the Guesthouse at a local traditional stone built home, fully re-designed and developed by Panagiotis Mazarakis, co-owner of the famous Athens Restaurants “Tzitzikas & Mermigas”.

Payment Conditions:
Prices are per room per night.
All prices apply for 2 people, apart from the residence Branches that caters for 2 or 4 people.
Extra beds are to be requested prior to arrival and are at an extra charge of €18
Children and extra beds:
Free! All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
One older child or adult is charged EUR 18 per night and person in an extra bed.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
Any type of extra bed or baby cot is upon request and needs to be confirmed by the hotel.
Supplements will not be calculated automatically in the total costs and have to be paid separately in the hotel.

Cancellation policy

 In the event of a cancellation notification in writing is required.

If cancelled up to 7 days before arrival, no fee will be charged. 

If cancelled or modified later, 50 percent of total price of the reservation will be charged. 

In case of no-show, 100 percent of total price of all nights will be charged.

The Castle of Mystras 

(Open daily except Tuesdays and free admission on Sundays).

Mystras has long been known for its outstanding beauty, dramatic scenery and its rich culture and heritage. The ruins, include the fortress, Palace, Churches, and Monasteries, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, involving Christian Art and Literature through the era of the Paleologi the last Emperor of the Byzantine. 

The frescos in the Peribleptos Church, dating between 1348 and 1380, are a very rare surviving late Byzantine cycle, crucial for the understanding of Byzantine. Mystras was a fortified town in Morea (the medieval Peloponnese), on Mt. Taygetos, near ancient Sparta. In the 14th and 15th centuries, it served as the capital of the Byzantine Despotate of the Morea, experiencing a period of prosperity and cultural flowering.

The Archeological Museum of Sparta

(open daily except Tuesdays)

One of the first built neoclassic buildings of contemporary Sparta, in the town centre amongst luscious green gardens.

It displays statues, sculptures, pottery, mosaics, and other ancient artifacts deriving from the Dioskouri period the era of Leonidas as well as the extensive Spartan History.

The Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil.

(open daily except Tuesdays)

The museum was created by the Cultural Foundation of Piraeus and displays the history of the Olive and Olive Oil, the cultivation of the olive tree, harvesting, oil mills from the post-Byzantine period up to the first half of the 20th century.

The Museum of Religious Art

It is housed on the second floor of the Metropolitan Building, directly across the Metropolitan Church of Evangelistria.
