MAZARAKI Guesthouse Suites located in Pikoulianika very close to the medieval castle of Mystras it is a treat that has to be experienced.
This superb location at 600m altitude amongst a thick forest has an abundance of mountain springs and streams, situated 230km from Athens (approx. 2 ½ hours drive), 4km from Mystras Village and 9km from Sparta.
MAZARAKI Guesthouse Suites has magnificent views, overlooking the Byzantine Mystras next to the mountainous mass of Mount Taygetos, the valley of the historical Eurotas River with the modern city of Sparta on top of the ancient Sparta and Mount Parnonas in the far distance.
MAZARAKI Guesthouse Suites consists of three independent traditional buildings, totally affiliated to the environment with the least possible interventions to the natural beauty of the area.
Prominent architect George Giaxoglou designed the buildings, combining traditional and contemporary aesthetics and comforts, amply utilizing the interiors and its individual location, whereas Eleni Manopoulou a well known set designer developed the interior decorations offering individual local themes inspired by olive, pomegranate, wheat, branches, sky and flowers. Pictures and colors are from the wonderful verdant lands surrounding the Guesthouse.
The spacious & comfortable suites offer private bedrooms, living room lounges with fully equipped kitchens, fireplaces and sizeable verandas, suitable for 2-5 persons.
A two storey residence is also available housing 7-9 persons with 4 bathrooms, 2 kitchens and 2 fireplaces suitable for families or a group of friends.
Note that the Rooms - Suites differ and are not identical, therefore are unique and built to the highest standard in a superb location.

The Castle of Mystras
(Open daily except Tuesdays and free admission on Sundays).
Mystras has long been known for its outstanding beauty, dramatic scenery and its rich culture and heritage. The ruins, include the fortress, Palace, Churches, and Monasteries, named a UNESCO World Heritage Site, involving Christian Art and Literature through the era of the Paleologi the last Emperor of the Byzantine.
The frescos in the Peribleptos Church, dating between 1348 and 1380, are a very rare surviving late Byzantine cycle, crucial for the understanding of Byzantine. Mystras was a fortified town in Morea (the medieval Peloponnese), on Mt. Taygetos, near ancient Sparta. In the 14th and 15th centuries, it served as the capital of the Byzantine Despotate of the Morea, experiencing a period of prosperity and cultural flowering.
The Archeological Museum of Sparta
(open daily except Tuesdays)
One of the first built neoclassic buildings of contemporary Sparta, in the town centre amongst luscious green gardens.
It displays statues, sculptures, pottery, mosaics, and other ancient artifacts deriving from the Dioskouri period the era of Leonidas as well as the extensive Spartan History.
The Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil.
(open daily except Tuesdays)
The museum was created by the Cultural Foundation of Piraeus and displays the history of the Olive and Olive Oil, the cultivation of the olive tree, harvesting, oil mills from the post-Byzantine period up to the first half of the 20th century.
The Museum of Religious Art
It is housed on the second floor of the Metropolitan Building, directly across the Metropolitan Church of Evangelistria.
