The beach of Palamida (meaning “bonito” in Greek) is situated southwards to Vlyhos, after you have walked for 20 minutes and passed by a nice stone bridge, a work of the 17th century.
At Palamida you may swim in crystal clear water, relax on the sand (the beach is one of the few sandy beaches of the island) and spend a lovely day at a beautiful, relatively calm place, not too far away from the settlement of Hydra. Once at the place, you may see the mansion of the Voulgaris family which, according to a local tradition, had served as the lodging of “Kapoudan Pasha”, the admiral of the Ottoman fleet, during his visit at Hydra. Very close to the beach you will also see a small shipyard, for the repair of small boats. |
