Agia Eleni beach, Skiathos Island |
The nice sandy beach of Agia Eleni (St. Helen) is situated at the western coast of the island, at a distance of some 14 kilometers western to the town of Skiathos and one kilometer western to Koukounaries. The beach owes its name to the homonymous small church, whose white color goes very well along with the blue of the sea, the green of the trees and the golden sand. |

Accommodation facilities are available at Koukounaries. The beach of Aghia Eleni is only basically organized, but the sea is very clean, the golden sand is ideal for sunbathing and the landscape is wonderful and quite exotic. Another pro of this beach is that it is situated to the very west. The sun shines here until late in the afternoon when it becomes a red disc which sinks slowly in the horizon line. In June and July, the area retains the daylight until early in the evening. During the rest of the day, the sun is quite strong, but, you will be protected under the umbrellas, or enjoy the thick shade of the big trees almost shadowing the sea. |

For any problem, the corresponding services of the town of Skiathos, 14 kilometers far away to the East, are available for you. The commonest and easiest way to access the beach is by the excursion boats, departing daily from the town of Skiathos and bringing several people to this area full of nice and quiet beaches. You may also reach the beach by car via the pretty bad road that you will find after you have passed by the lagoon of Strofilia. |
