The wonderful sandy beach of Banana is situated at the southern part of the western coast of the island, at a distance of some 14 kilometers western to the town of Skiathos and approximately one kilometer western to Koukounaries. The beach owes its name to its shape that looks like the homonymous fruit. The old name of the beach was Ormos tou Krassa (the Krassas cove), but today it is the new name that prevails everywhere. Some years ago Banana was a beach for nudists, but as recently the beach has become very popular and attracts many people, nudists and naturists have now found shelter to the adjacent beach of Mikri Banana (“small banana”).

Accommodation facilities are available only in the area of Koukounaries.

Banana is a well organized beach with taverns and cafés for food and drink and with facilities for swimming, sunbathing and sea sports. The sea is crystal clear and very clean and the golden sand ideal for sunbathing. You will swim in a pretty exotic environment, with the trees to shadow the sea. Another pro of the beach is that, being at the west, the sun shines until late in the afternoon. All these features make the beach a pole of attraction for many visitors, mainly younger ones, who come here not only for swimming but also for frantic amusement.
