The small rocky beach of Lehouni, with gross pebbles, is situated some 5 kilometers far from the town of Skiathos at the eastern coast of the island. According to the local tradition it is here that has been buried Nikotsaras, a hero of the Greek National Revolution of 1821; for this reason the beach is often called Nikotsaras’ beach.
No accommodation or food and drink facilities are available at the beach, but as it is pretty close to the town of Skiathos, you may stay in the area around and come here for a nice swimming.
The beach is not organized at all and if you come here it is only for the wild beauty of the landscape and the crystal clear clean sea. On your way to the beach you will also see the Holy Monastery of Evangelistria.
For any problem you have to return to the town of Skiathos, some 5 kilometers southern to the beach.
Access to Lehounia is possible by rented or private car and motorbikes; from the monastery of Evangelistria to the beach, you have to drive on a good dirt road. |
