Xanemos beach, Skiathos Island |
The beach of Xanemos, a pebbly beach with gross pebbles, is situated some 3,5 kilometers northeastern to the town of Skiathos, within a cove , at the eastern coast of the island. It owes its name to the fact that it is totally open to the strong northern winds blowing in the area; it is a beach with very cool sea. Neither accommodation, nor food and drink facilities are available at the beach; but as it is quite close to the capital town of Skiathos and at the end of the way to the airport, several alternatives for accommodation and eating are found in the broader area. |

At the site of Kefala archaeologists have detected the traces of a prehistoric settlement. The beach is rather organized, with swimming, sunbathing and sea sport facilities. The nice view to Skopelos, the crystal clear very clean sea and the short distance from the town of Skiathos and from the airport have made the beach pretty popular, especially among nudists and naturists. In case of any problem you should address to the corresponding services of the town of Skiathos, at a distance of 3,5 kilometers southwestern to the beach. Access to the beach is possible by public buses with frequent service, by taxi, as well as by rented and private car and motorbikes. |
