The sandy beach of Avlaki is found southern to the peninsula that forms the bay of Porto Rafti. It is situated some 4 kilometers southeastern to the settlement of Porto Rafti, 10 kilometers eastern to the town of Markopoulo, to which it belongs and some 38 kilometers eastern to the center of Athens. Avlaki is a well protected beach, both from the northern winds and from the southern ones.

Several accommodation facilities are available at the place, as well as in the broader area, in Artemida (Loutsa) and in the rest of the neighboring summer resorts. The coastal settlement of Porto Rafti offers many alternatives for food and drink and it is famous for its nightlife, especially in summer, and for the chances it offers for amusement all year round. You will find a lot of coffee bars, clubs, music bars and haunts for young people.

The beach is well organized offering facilities for swimming, sunbathing and relax at the beach (umbrellas, sun beds), as well as snack bars for refreshments and light meals. You will also find a ground for basketball and other games.

In case of emergence the local Medical Center the pharmacies and the Police Station of Markopoulo Mesogaeas (some 10 kilometers western to the beach) are available for you.

Access to the beach is possible by the intercity public buses (KTEL) and by taxi from Markopoulo. Of course, the visitors may come here by private means (car and motorbikes), by they should bear in mind that during the weekends parking close to the beach is a bit difficult to find, especially in August. To reach the beach you have to follow the way to Porto Rafti, via Markopoulo; before entering the settlement of Porto Rafti, you will continue on the right road and, following the coastal road with the coffee bars, you will arrive to Avlaki, after 3 kilometers.
