The long sandy beach in front of the settlement of Nea Makri is situated at a distance of 32 kilometers northeastern to the center of Athens.

As the settlement of Nea Makri is rapidly developing to a small town in the last decades, the visitor has a wide range of alternatives for accommodation; you may also choose to stay in the area around, at Rafina or Marathonas. As the rest of the coastal settlements of the area, Nea Makri was a favorite destination for swimming and summer residence even in the past; today it is better during the weekdays, because in the weekends it receives a great number of visitors who come here both for swimming and for the taverns of the settlement.

No swimming and sunbathing facilities are available at the beach, but the sea is shallow and deepens smoothly, which makes it suitable for families with small children, for elderly people and for beginners in swimming.

For any health problems some pharmacies and a Local Medical Center is available in the town.

Access to the beach is easy by the intercity public buses (KTEL) running regularly, as well as by private means (car and motorbikes). Parking close to the beach is pretty difficult especially during the weekends and in August. From Athens you will arrive to the settlement and the beach of Nea Makri via the road leading to Marathonas.
