Psatha beach, Attica |
Psatha is a 2,5 kilometers long beach with nice sand and free access; the beach is situated below the mountain Pateras and has a fascinating view of Corinthiakos Bay and of the thick pine wood of the mountain. It is found some 20 kilometers far from Villia and 60 kilometers western to the center of Athens. As Porto Germeno, Psatha too served as the port of Megara at Corinthiakos Bay in antiquity and it was called Panormos. According to scholars the place owes its actual name to the numerous bulrushes, which serve as the raw material for various handmade objects (straw-hats, baskets etc). |
