The small beach within the tiny cove where it is found the coffee bar “Alkyonides”, to which this beach owes its name, is located at the entrance of the town of Varkiza, as you reach it via the coastal road; the beach is situated some 26 kilometers southeastern to Athens city center.

Accommodation, food and drink, amusement and entertainment, shopping and everyday life supply facilities are fully available, both within the continuously developing summer resort of Varkiza and in the nearby towns of Vari (1 kilometer far away to the North) and Vouliagmeni (4 kilometers to the Southwest). The alternatives you have both in Varkiza and in the area around, are plenty, in any field, for any taste and for any budget. You will find lots of parking stations for your vehicle, lots of choices for eating, drinking, nightlife, shopping; you will also find coffee bars and department stores.

The beach is free and not organized at all; apart from swimming in the clean sea of the bay of Varkiza, you may also dive, play beach tennis and other beach and sea games and have a cool refreshment or coffee in the nearby café.

In case of any problem you have at your disposal the pharmacies and doctors, as well as the rest of the services of Varkiza and the nearby towns and summer settlements. A Police Station, a Traffic Police Station and several public services are found in short distance from the beach.

Access to the beach is easy by public buses, running frequently, by taxi as well as by private means (car or motorbikes). In general, you will not have a problem of parking, unless during the weekends and especially on Sundays. As Varkiza is pretty flat, it is ideal for walking and cycling. If you arrive to the place by boat or yacht you may use the port of the town or the adjacent marinas for mooring. In the port of Varkiza you may also find all necessary supplies for your vessel.
