Vravrona beach, Attica

The sandy beach of Vravrona, near the homonymous archaeological site of the ancient temple of Artemis (Diana) is situated northeastern to Markopoulo Mesogaeas, to which it belongs, and some 40 kilometers eastern to the center of Athens. It is a beach rather well protected from the summer northern winds (“meltemia”).

Few accommodation facilities are available near the beach, but you will find any type of lodging in the broader area, in Porto Rafti, in Artemida (Loutsa) and in the rest of the neighboring summer resorts. The coastal settlement of Porto Rafti offers many alternatives for food and drink and it is famous for its nightlife, especially in summer, and for the chances it offers for amusement all year round. You will find a lot of coffee bars, clubs, music bars and haunts for young people.

Swimming and sunbathing facilities are available only at certain parts of the beach, and the sea is shallow and clean.

In case of emergence the local Medical Center, the pharmacies and the Police Station of Markopoulo Mesogaeas (some 10 kilometers southwestern to the beach) are available for you.

Access to the beach is possible by taxi from Markopoulo, as well as by rented or private car and motorbikes. In general parking near the beach is easy enough, because the beach does not receive big crowds, unless in August. To reach the beach you have to follow the way from Markopoulo to Porto Rafti; at a distance of 2 kilometers after Markopoulo, you have to turn left (the junction is signed); you will find the beach soon after you have passed by the archaeological site.
