Panoramic view from the Tholos of Athena Pronaia |
|
| In summer of 1901 the archaeologists started to excavate the Tholos which had been detected in 1891 with 15 columns of the temple of Athena Pronaea still standing in front of it. The tholos is the best known and easiest recognizable monument of Delphi. It is a masterpiece of Classical architecture (it is dated in circa 380 b.C.). |
