Makrinitsa is a big, historic and traditional village with a very imposing architecture kept almost intact up to now. The village flourished in the 17th century and contributed much to the Greek Revolution of 1821. It is situated at the western mountainside of Pelion, at a distance of 15 kilometers northeastern to Volos. Thanks to its location it has a wonderful view of the town of Volos and of Pagassitikos Bay. Within the village the visitor will see many old mansions and churches; there are several other things worth seeing, both in the village and in the area around it.
